Who the H181 Double French Horn Is For

The Holton H181 Farkas is a professional double French horn intended for orchestral, solo, and advanced academic performance where accurate pitch and dependable slotting are required. The large-throat red brass bell supports a warmer, rounder tonal center, while the .468 bore and Farkas wrap provide the balance of resistance and openness many players prefer for symphonic repertoire.

What distinguishes the H181 within the professional double-horn category is its classic Holton-Farkas design approach: a projection-friendly large bell throat paired with tapered rotors and bearings for a stable, consistent feel across registers. It is a strong fit for experienced players who want a traditional American orchestral sound concept and a clear, predictable response.
