Selmer Paris B16 Prologue SeleS Intermediate Bb Clarinet
The Selmer Paris B16 Prologue SeleS is an intermediate Bb clarinet designed to deliver Selmer’s long-standing clarinet-making expertise in an accessible, player-friendly instrument. Built to feel light and immediately comfortable, it offers quick response and smooth emission that helps advancing clarinetists focus on sound and musicality rather than fighting the instrument. The Prologue’s ergonomic keywork supports a natural hand position for a fast, confident transition from student instruments. A purpose-designed bore contributes to flexible playability across all registers and a consistent, even tone from top to bottom.
Players choose the Prologue for its balanced blend of tonal clarity, reliable pitch, and easy articulation in real-world playing situations. Its focused, homogeneous sound helps lines project cleanly in band and orchestra while still supporting nuanced dynamics for chamber music and solo repertoire. Selmer’s acoustic research and design choices prioritize stable intonation, helping notes “lock in” with less adjustment during rehearsals. Response remains dependable from the chalumeau through the clarion and altissimo registers, supporting technical passages and lyrical phrasing alike. A smart step-up option for advancing students, doubler woodwind players, and adult returners seeking a refined Bb clarinet with modern ergonomics and Selmer Paris design heritage.
