Who the 52nd Street Eb Alto Saxophone Is For

The 52nd Street Eb Alto Saxophone is a professional-level alto saxophone designed for players who want a vintage-leaning voice with modern consistency in response and intonation. It suits working musicians, advanced students preparing for conservatory or auditions, and doublers who need a dependable alto that speaks quickly from low register through altissimo-friendly upper ranges.

What distinguishes the EAS652 is its combination of an aged unlacquered brass finish, large bell, and rolled-style tone holes, which together support a broad, centered sound and an immediate, lively feel under the fingers. The High F# key and adjustable thumbrest add practical modern functionality for contemporary repertoire and long sets.

Common Questions About The Eastman EAS652

Is the Eastman EAS652 a professional alto saxophone?

Yes. The EAS652 52nd Street is built as a professional instrument, with design features aimed at fast response, stable intonation, and a big, full sound suitable for stage, studio, and serious classical or jazz use.

What does an aged unlacquered brass finish change for the player?

An unlacquered finish means the horn is not sealed with clear lacquer, so the brass can naturally develop patina over time. Many players choose it for its vintage appearance and the direct, “broken-in” feel it can provide.

What are rolled-style tone holes and why do they matter?

Rolled-style tone holes are formed with a rounded rim at the top of the tone hole. Players often associate this construction with certain vintage instruments and a smooth, robust tonal character, while also providing a comfortable interface for pads when properly regulated.
