About The Mighty Quinn Brass and Winds

In 1998, our founder Matthew Stoecker—an Oberlin-trained trombone player—started sourcing and restoring vintage horns from his garage. Originally operating under the name "Quinn the Eskimo Vintage Horns" (a nod to the classic Bob Dylan song), the shop was built on the idea that every instrument has a story worth telling. As the business grew from a garage side-hustle into a professional powerhouse, we evolved our name to The Mighty Quinn Brass and Winds to better reflect the scale of our mission and the diversity of the community we serve.

From a Three-Person Shop to a National Resource

Alongside a small, dedicated team of musicians and technicians, Matthew grew the business from a local vintage specialty shop into a premier national resource. In 2020, we took our biggest leap yet, moving from that original garage into a full-scale warehouse and digital storefront in Seattle. This expansion allowed us to grow our team to 19 specialists and evolve from a "used-only" shop into a comprehensive destination for the modern musician.

A "Small-Shop" Soul on a National Scale

Though we’ve grown into a national operation serving musicians across the entire U.S., we haven’t lost our "garage" soul. We’ve traded the driveway for an expansive, thoughtfully curated inventory that you won’t find just anywhere. Our inventory includes flutes and piccolos, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, and saxophones, as well as brass favorites like trumpets, cornets, flugelhorns, French horns, trombones, euphoniums, baritone horns, and tubas.

Today, we are proud to be authorized dealers for the industry’s most prestigious names, including:

  • Brass: Bach, C.G. Conn, King, Holton, S.E. Shires, Willson, XO, Yamaha
  • Woodwinds: Selmer Paris, Yamaha, Yanagisawa, Haynes, Azumi, Backun, Eastman
  • Accessories: Theo Wanne, Protec, KraftGeek, Hercules
