Who the EBF861S Tuba Is For
The Eastman EBF861S is a 4/4 F tuba designed for advancing students, conservatory players, and working professionals who need a primary F tuba for solo and ensemble repertoire. The F tuba’s natural clarity and agility can make it a strong choice for exposed passages, detailed articulation, and repertoire where a lighter, more focused tuba voice is preferred.
The four front-action piston layout supports fast technical playing and comfortable hand position for players coming from piston BBb or CC tubas. The 16 1/2 inch upright bell and silver-plated finish make the EBF861S well-suited for concert use where projection, definition, and visual presentation matter.
Common Questions About The Eastman EBF861S
Is the Eastman EBF861S a good choice as a first professional F tuba?
Yes. A 4/4 F tuba with four front-action pistons is a common, practical format for players moving into conservatory-level study or professional work that requires an F tuba for solos, chamber music, and orchestral literature.
What does 4/4 size mean on an F tuba?
4/4 generally indicates a full-size, general-purpose body size that balances breadth of sound with manageable weight and response. It is typically chosen as an all-around F tuba size rather than a very small “3/4” or very large “5/4” design.
What comes with the Eastman EBF861S?
It includes a Laskey 28K US mouthpiece and a deluxe wheeled case for transport and storage.
