Who the YTR-9445NYS-YS-BR III C Trumpet Is For
The YTR-9445NYS-YS-BR III is a professional C trumpet designed for orchestral and high-level ensemble players who need secure intonation, clear core, and controllable brilliance across the full range. As a BR type Xeno Artist Model, it is built to provide a flexible sound and agile control while retaining the consistent pitch center and reliability expected from the Xeno platform.
What distinguishes this model within the New York C category is its brass-intensive approach (including a full brass valve casing and caps) paired with the Malone Pipe leadpipe concept and an unsoldered floating finger hook to influence response and tonal behavior. The YS4 bell and MC2 leadpipe pairing is intended to support a powerful tone with a solid core, while the French bead rim construction is engineered to improve feedback to the player. Performance-focused hardware updates, including the resonance-oriented water key design and revised rubber cork seal, and the 3rd-slide setup that enables additional extension for accurate low F, are aimed at players who demand repeatable results in professional settings.
Common Questions About the Yamaha YTR-9445NYS-YS-BR III
What does “BR type” mean on the YTR-9445NYS-YS-BR III?
BR type refers to a Xeno Artist Model variant that uses more brass components, including a full brass valve casing and brass caps, to support a brighter tonal response and a freer playing feel while keeping the Xeno Artist Model’s characteristic pitch stability.
How is the YTR-9445NYS-YS-BR III different from the YTR-9445NYS-YM?
This model includes “YS” in the name to distinguish it from the YTR-9445NYS-YM. The YTR-9445NYS-YS-BR III uses the YS4 bell design (note: the bell design is not changed from the 2019 model) and is configured as a BR type New York Series instrument developed with input from David Bilger.
What is the Malone Pipe leadpipe, and why does it matter?
The Malone Pipe leadpipe is based on leadpipe designs by brass artisan Bob Malone and is selected by Yamaha to enhance response, intonation consistency, and evenness of tone. On the BR type, it uses a thinner-wall approach than the standard Xeno Artist Model leadpipe to augment the character of the instrument’s brass components.
