Now, the SBJ Series mutes features Yamaha’s exclusive Brass Resonance Modeling™ Version 2.0. Used together, the two deliver the natural acoustic tone you hear when playing without a mute, making it feel as though you are playing mute free.

Light Weight Pickup Mute The Pickup Mute combines a high-performance mute with an internal microphone to pickup sound. Significantly smaller and lighter than previous versions, the mute offers superior muting performance, delivers excellent intonation over a wide pitch range, and natural playability. A new compact & lightweight design now lets you put your instrument in its case with the mute in the bell.

The SB5J model also includes the adapter to make the mute work for a large throated bell (F-Rotor or Bass Trombone) as well!

Brass Resonance Modeling Version 2.0 Brass Resonance Modeling™ is original Yamaha technology that effectively cancels the characteristic closed sound of a mute, reproducing the open, natural sound of the unmuted instrument. This reduces stress on players by allowing them to practice and play freely without feeling restricted by the mute.
