Selmer Paris Mark VI Tenor Saxophone
A Selmer Paris Mark VI is a professional Bb tenor saxophone built for players who need a responsive, flexible instrument for modern performance and recording. Within vintage Selmer tenors, the Mark VI is known for its centered core, tonal complexity, and strong projection that can be shaped easily with different mouthpieces and reeds. This example retains its original silver plate at approximately 95% and includes the original Selmer Mark VI tenor neck (European-distribution neck with no serial number stamp). It has received a complete professional overhaul and is set up to play reliably right away.
In practical playing terms, the Mark VI design supports quick response, stable intonation, and an even scale across registers, making it suitable for both subtle dynamic control and high-output lead work. The classic Mark VI bore and tonehole layout provides a mix of focus and color, with enough projection for amplified and acoustic settings, while the familiar Mark VI keywork (including the left-hand table and front F) helps reduce fatigue during long rehearsals and sessions. Ribbed post construction reflects traditional Selmer Paris craftsmanship from the period and contributes to a solid, consistent feel under the fingers. This tenor is an excellent fit for professional big band and combo work, studio recording, pit and doubling situations, and solo performance where versatility matters. Ideal for working professionals, serious jazz and commercial players, and advanced students seeking a lifetime-level vintage tenor.
