Who is the Adams A7 Bb Trumpet for?
The Adams Model A7 is a professional Bb trumpet built for advanced and professional players who want a large-bore instrument with a very open feel and the stability to support symphonic repertoire. Its 12 mm bore and Adams 2L leadpipe are specifically suited to players who favor low resistance and prefer the instrument to “get out of the way” when shaping a broad, orchestral sound.
Within the Adams lineup, the A7 stands out for its combination of the largest Adams leadpipe and a medium-heavy valve section, developed in collaboration with Guido Segers of the Munich Philharmonic. While it is primarily geared toward symphonic playing, the same open blow and strong core have also made it a practical choice for jazz soloists who want a big, free response.
Common Questions About the Adams Model A7
Is the Adams A7 suitable for professional orchestral use?
Yes. The A7 was developed with Munich Philharmonic solo trumpeter Guido Segers and is primarily geared toward symphonic playing, with a large 12 mm bore and the Adams 2L leadpipe for an open response and broad dynamic capability.
What does “large bore” mean on the A7, and how does it feel?
On the A7, large bore means a 12 mm bore. In practical terms, this is intended to feel very open blowing, with less built-in resistance and a response profile that rewards strong air support and efficient embouchure.
Can the Adams A7 work for jazz as well as classical?
Yes. Although it is designed with symphonic playing in mind, the A7 has also proved popular with jazz soloists who want an open feel and a large, projecting sound concept.
