Bach Model 17043GYR 'Apollo' Professional Bb Trumpet SN 797135
Bach 17043GYR Apollo Professional Bb Trumpet Overview
The Bach 17043GYR Apollo is a professional Bb trumpet that modernizes Vincent Bach’s original Apollo concept by pairing the 180 Stradivarius valve block and chassis with a two-piece, two-material bell. This model uses a 43 bell built with a gold brass stem and a yellow brass flare, combining core and depth with added brilliance and projection. A modern 6-style reversed leadpipe is included for fast response and an efficient, flexible feel across styles, making the 170 series a distinct alternative to the one-piece bell Stradivarius design.

Who the 17043GYR Apollo Professional Bb Trumpet Is For
The Bach 17043GYR Apollo is a professional Bb trumpet designed for players who want Stradivarius-level valve/chassis familiarity with a different bell concept and feel. The two-piece, two-material 43 bell (gold brass stem, yellow brass flare) is intended to deliver a tonal blend that retains the roundness and color associated with gold brass while adding the clarity and edge often associated with yellow brass.
This model suits working professionals, advanced students, and doublers who need a responsive Bb trumpet for commercial, orchestral, wind ensemble, and studio use. What distinguishes the Apollo line within Bach’s professional range is its modernized take on Vincent Bach’s two-piece bell idea, paired with the same core platform used in the 180 series and a reversed leadpipe for a quick, efficient response.
Common Questions About The Bach 17043GYR Apollo
Is the Bach 17043GYR Apollo a professional-level trumpet?
Yes. The 170 series is a professional line that uses the same valve block and chassis platform as Bach’s 180 Stradivarius trumpets, paired with the Apollo two-piece, two-material bell design.
What does the gold brass stem and yellow brass flare change about the sound?
The gold brass stem typically contributes warmth, density, and color in the core of the sound, while the yellow brass flare tends to add clarity and sparkle at the front of the note. On the 17043GYR, the intent is a balanced sound that can cover both darker and brighter musical contexts.
How does the reversed 6-style leadpipe affect playability?
A reversed leadpipe design reduces resistance at the initial slide connection and is commonly chosen for a quicker response and an easier feel, especially in soft attacks, slurs, and across-register transitions.
