Who the Lumiere Bb Clarinet Is For
The Backun Lumiere Bb clarinet is a professional French-style Bb clarinet designed for players who prioritize clarity, focus, and consistent intonation across the full range of the instrument. It is well suited to orchestral, chamber, solo, and studio work where a centered core, clean articulation, and reliable pitch stability are essential.
What distinguishes the Lumiere within the professional Bb clarinet category is its ground-up redesign around the Backun Scale and the Lumiere complex taper, paired with sculpted tone holes and an automatic Low F vent to support smooth response from the highest altissimo through the low register. Ergonomic details such as inline trill keys that move complex sculpted tone holes out of the waterline, newly designed touch pieces, and Backun’s first use of custom leather pads are aimed at delivering a refined feel and fast, controlled response.
