Here is Heckel Bassoon #10314.

The Heckel bassoons are the stuff of legends. Used by more orchestra professionals than any other bassoon, the sound of an older Heckel is unlike anything else in the bassoon world. This one was built right around when Heckel had started to make thicker walled instruments with a more robust sound.

This instrument is in excellent condition. It has just been completely gone over by my master technician and is completely ready to play - please see a video of this bassoon being played on YouTube. This instrument was rescued from a high school (!) where it appears to have had some play but nothing serious. Finish is original and the Heckel brand is clearly visible on all joints. The Heckel stamp in the boot (see photos) is clear. This instrument has original keywork so it does not have the high D or E key We have an appointment to have these added by Paul Nordby in early 2024 if we still have it by then, and will allow the appointment to go with the instrument if purchased before then - price is adjusted to take this into account.

Of the four Heckels we have for sale right now this one was the personal favorite of the professional bassoonist that we had play these.

We have put this instrument into a brand new Wiseman case for the ultimate in protection. We had a professional bassoonist comb through a collection of bocals and choose the one that she felt was best suited to this instrument. Though there were several Heckel bocals available, she felt that the best match for this instrument was actually a Yamaha Super Bocal VN 1.
