Who the Mark VI Alto Saxophone Is For

The Selmer Paris Mark VI Alto Saxophone is a professional Eb alto saxophone designed for players who need a responsive, flexible instrument with a focused core tone and the classic Selmer feel. The Mark VI is known for a centered sound with colorful overtones, supporting warmth at softer dynamics and strong projection when pushed, with immediate response that favors clean articulation and fast technical playing.

This model is a strong fit for working jazz artists, commercial and studio players, pit musicians, and advanced classical saxophonists who choose mouthpieces and setups to match their repertoire. Original-lacquer Mark VI altos are often sought by players and player-collectors who want period-correct craftsmanship, familiar ergonomics, and the traditional Mark VI response across the full range.

Common Questions About The Selmer Paris Mark VI

Is the Selmer Paris Mark VI alto saxophone suitable for professional use?

Yes. The Mark VI is a professional-model alto saxophone, and this instrument has been professionally serviced and play-tested with regulated keywork and pads in excellent condition.

What does “original lacquer (approx. 80–55% present)” mean?

It means the horn retains a substantial amount of its factory lacquer, with visible wear through to the brass in common contact areas. This type of finish wear is typical for vintage instruments and does not prevent proper function.

Does it include a case and accessories?

A case is included, but no mouthpiece or additional accessories.
