Yamaha YHR-672ND Double French Horn Overview

The Yamaha YHR-672ND is a professional full double French horn built on a traditional Kruspe wrap with a detachable extra-large nickel silver bell, designed to deliver a warm, rich orchestral voice with strong projection. Its leadpipe taper is based on the acclaimed Yamaha Custom YHR-862 design, providing an open feel and quick response while maintaining defined playing resistance for control. Updated bracing, a revised tuning slide design, and a short-stroke 4th valve mechanism support fluid switching and balanced playability across the full range, making it well-suited for both standard repertoire and contemporary performance demands.

Who the YHR-672ND Double French Horn Is For

The Yamaha YHR-672ND is a professional full double horn designed for players who need a traditional Kruspe-wrap feel with a broader, warmer sound profile and dependable response in large acoustic spaces. Its extra-large detachable bell and leadpipe design support a rich overtone structure and a timbre with notable depth, while maintaining enough resistance to give the player control over articulation, color, and dynamic shape.

This model is a strong fit for orchestral musicians, advanced conservatory students, and serious freelancers who move between classical standards and modern repertoire. The short-stroke 4th valve mechanism supports faster, more comfortable switching between the F and Bb sides, and the revised brace placement and tuning slide design contribute to balanced, consistent playability across registers.
