Selmer Paris 84SIG Signature Tenor Saxophone Overview
The Selmer Paris 84SIG Signature is a professional Bb tenor saxophone designed as the modern evolution of the Super Action 80 Series II platform. It is built for serious players who want the familiar Series II sound profile paired with updated intonation and a more even response across registers. The Signature retains the centered, characterful Selmer tonal identity while improving upper-register accuracy and supporting easier low-register emission. It also incorporates key mechanical and acoustic updates drawn from Selmer’s newest design approach, helping the instrument feel contemporary without losing its traditional core.
In performance, the Signature tenor offers a clear, stable core with the flexibility to shape color for classical, commercial, and studio work, and it projects cleanly without forcing. The revised neck receiver architecture contributes to better homogeneity from low to high register, while the reinforced receiver ring adds solidity in one of the most sensitive acoustic junctions of the instrument. Players will notice smooth, reliable octave transitions due to the teflon-supported octave mechanism, along with updated ergonomics that feel immediately familiar to Series II users but more accommodating over long sessions. The Art Deco engraving reflects Selmer’s long-standing Mantes-la-Ville craft tradition and gives the instrument a distinctly French presentation on stage. Ideal for orchestral and wind ensemble tenors, pit and doubling players needing consistency, and advanced students moving into professional-level equipment.
