Haynes Q1 Flute with Offset G/B Footjoint
The Wm. S. Haynes Q1 is a Q Series concert flute featuring a hand-cut sterling silver headjoint paired with a silver-plated body and mechanism. It is designed for advancing flutists and serious players who want Haynes craftsmanship, dependable intonation, and a flexible tonal palette in a modern, performance-ready instrument. The Q1’s drawn toneholes and professional-style keywork support a clear, centered sound and consistent response across registers. As part of the Haynes Q Series introduced in 2010, it delivers Haynes standards through premium materials crafted at the Haynes Beijing Workshop with final finishing completed in Acton, Massachusetts.
In performance, the silver headjoint provides quick articulation and a refined, singing core, while the silver-plated body and drawn toneholes help maintain stability and evenness from low to high register. The open-hole (French) key design supports nuanced venting and color changes for solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire, and the offset G improves left-hand ergonomics for long rehearsals and practice sessions. The B foot extends range and supports repertoire that requires low B while maintaining a secure low register response. Stainless steel springs contribute to a crisp, reliable key action suited to detailed technical work. This Q1 is an excellent fit for advanced students, pre-professional conservatory players, and working musicians seeking a dependable primary flute or a high-quality step-up instrument for frequent ensemble and studio use.
