Yamaha YAS-62IIIA Professional Alto Saxophone Overview

The Yamaha YAS-62IIIA is a professional Eb alto saxophone in amber lacquer, built on the long-running Yamaha 62-series design introduced in 1979 and refined over decades of production. This current-generation model adds a redesigned 62-style neck with a slightly narrower bore for faster response and greater control, updated low B to C# keywork for a more secure seal in the low register, and more detailed hand engraving on a two-piece bell. It ships with a semi-hard case designed for easier transport and includes a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece.

Who the YAS-62IIIA Professional Alto Saxophone Is For

The Yamaha YAS-62IIIA is a professional alto saxophone designed for players who need consistent response, durable keywork, and a centered tonal core in ensemble or solo settings. It is widely chosen in academic and professional environments because the 62-series has a long track record for reliability while delivering the speed and control serious players expect.

Compared with earlier 62 generations, the YAS-62IIIA’s 62-style neck with a slightly narrower bore is built to respond quickly and support controlled airflow, helping players lock into pitch and articulation with less effort. The improved low B to C# mechanism promotes a clearer, more dependable response in the bottom of the horn, making it a strong choice for repertoire that demands secure low-register playing.
