Common Questions About the Bach 42A
What distinguishes the Bach 42A from the 42B and 42BO?
The 42A uses an open-wrap F attachment with a Hagmann valve. The 42B uses a traditional-wrap F attachment with a standard rotor, while the 42BO combines an open wrap with a standard rotor. The 42A is intended for players who prefer the response and airflow characteristics of the Hagmann design.
How do the large bore and 8-1/2 inch bell shape its musical role?
The .547-inch bore and 8-1/2 inch yellow brass bell place the 42A in the established large-bore tenor category. This configuration supports a broad, centered sound with the projection and dynamic range expected in orchestral, concert band, and advanced solo playing.
Where does the 42A fit within Bach's trombone lineup?
The 42A is part of Bach's professional Stradivarius large-bore tenor family. It retains the core Model 42 design while offering the specialized Hagmann valve configuration for players who prefer that approach to the standard-rotor versions.
