Common Questions About the C.G. Conn 11DN

How does the Conn 11DN differ from the Conn 8D?

The 11DN uses a Geyer wrap, yellow brass medium-throat bell, and nickel silver mouthpipe and slides. The 8D follows a Kruspe-wrap design with an all-nickel-silver body and large-throat bell, giving the two models different response and tonal concepts.

What does the reversible F/Bb configuration mean?

The change-valve arrangement can be configured so the horn stands in F or Bb when the thumb lever is not engaged, allowing the player or technician to select the preferred operating setup.

What playing character is associated with the 11DN design?

The Geyer wrap and medium-throat yellow brass bell are associated with a focused core, responsive articulation, and clear projection. These characteristics make the model particularly relevant for orchestral players who favor a direct, flexible horn concept.
