Gonzalez FOF clarinet reeds were designed for the clarinetist looking for a darker, richer tone. Using an “American”, unfiled cut, Gonzalez FOF clarinet reeds are made from a 3.6mm blank of cane that is then cut down to a thick blank 3.16 mm thickness. The reed is thus cut from a denser part of the cane, yielding a more vibrant overall performance.

- Cut and thickness: The F.O.F. reeds originate from a thicker “blank” of cane: 3.6 mm, rectified to about 3.18 mm. This means more wood (mass) in the heart of the reed
- American cut, un-filed design: This contributes to their thicker internal heart and darker tone
- Aged cane: The cane used is aged at least 4 years before manufacturing. That aging, plus the thicker wood in the heart, is what gives these reeds their characteristic sound
- Shoulder and taper design: The shoulders are more deeply carved to free up vibration in the lower/“bass” areas of the reed, while still maintaining enough heart for clarity in the upper register

Orders valued over $99 ship via FedEx 2-Day within the U.S. and via DHL internationally. A physical address (no P.O. Boxes) and signature are required. Smaller accessories ship via USPS (2–5 day service) and do not require a signature if valued under $99. Please see our FAQ for additional details.

Every instrument we sell is guaranteed to be free of mechanical defects—if an issue arises, contact us and we’ll either reimburse a local repair or provide a prepaid return label for repair, exchange, or refund. If you simply change your mind, you may still return the item for a full refund, but return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility unless free returns were purchased through Redo at checkout.
