Laskey 53MG Gilkes Signature Trombone Mouthpiece Overview
The Laskey 53MG Gilkes Signature Trombone Mouthpiece is a small-shank tenor trombone mouthpiece developed within Laskey's Signature series, a line built around artist-specific designs for demanding players. The 53MG is the Matthew Gilkes signature model and uses a mid-shallow cup profile, giving small-bore tenor trombonists a mouthpiece concept aimed at clarity, flexibility, and a focused response.
Internationally acclaimed jazz trombonist and composer, Marshall Gilkes continues to defy musical boundaries. Laskey partnered with Marshall to create a mouthpiece that can embrace the limitless possibilities of the trombone, both technically and musically. From the pedal range to all the way up in the stratosphere, Laskey Marshall Gilkes Signature 53MG Mouthpiece provides a strong core and beautiful tone whether you’re a lead player in a big band, soloist in a jazz combo, or playing Beethoven in an orchestra.
Crafted in a custom blank exclusive to this model, Laskey Marshall Gilkes Signature 53MG provides even support throughout the ranges with beautiful timbre. Marshall and Team Laskey spent months testing prototypes to find the ultimate balance between tone, comfort, flexibility, and stability. Whether you are playing a pedal F or a high F, this beautifully crafted mouthpiece will be there to find your musical voice with unlimited possibilities. For classical players who are looking for a mouthpiece for small bore trombones, moderately sized rim and mid-deep cup often make the switch from a large horn to a small one easier.
