Who the STBCW Tenor Trombone Is For
The S.E. Shires STBCW Colin Williams Model is a Bb/F artist-model tenor trombone built for professional orchestral and high-level ensemble playing where a broad, centered sound and reliable response are essential. Its lightweight two-piece yellow-brass bell is designed to speak easily while maintaining a wide tonal footprint, and its harmonic content is voiced to warm up evenly at higher dynamics without turning edgy.
This model’s playing characteristics are reinforced by the TW47 0.547-inch handslide with a nickel-silver wide crook for a direct, efficient feel, while the 2SS leadpipe helps clarify the instrument’s harmonic profile. The TG gold-brass tuning slide adds warmth and color, supporting what many players associate with a heroic New York low-brass sound concept. As part of the Shires Custom Series, the STBCW can be customized; if you want to change the bell, tuning slide, leadpipe, valve, or handslide components, contact us to spec a build to your needs.
