Selmer STS711M Tenor Saxophone Overview
The Selmer STS711M is a Bb tenor saxophone designed as an entry-level professional instrument for advancing players who want Selmer-style response and ergonomic familiarity. It combines robust modern construction with pro-grade playing components, including Pisoni pads with metal resonators and blued steel springs for reliable sealing and action. Tonally, it is built to deliver a centered core with the flexibility to shape color for both classical clarity and contemporary projection. What distinguishes the STS711 series in its class is the inclusion of a genuine Henri Selmer Paris-manufactured neck and a Selmer Paris mouthpiece developed specifically for this platform.
In performance, the STS711M is geared toward quick response across the range, stable intonation, and a focused, projecting tenor sound that can be balanced easily in section work or featured lines. The post-to-rib-to-body construction supports consistent regulation and a solid feel under the hands, while blued steel springs contribute to a fast, clean key return for technical passages. Pisoni pro leather pads with metal resonators promote clarity at soft dynamics and added presence when pushed, making the horn adaptable for studio, pit, jazz ensemble, concert band, and saxophone choir use. Ergonomics follow familiar Selmer geometry, supporting long rehearsals and doubling work with minimal adjustment. Ideal for advanced students, serious hobbyists moving into professional-level equipment, and working players seeking a dependable tenor with a Selmer Paris neck and mouthpiece included.
