Altus 1307 Britannia Silver (.958) Flute Overview
The Altus 1307 is a handmade professional concert flute built in Japan from Britannia silver (.958) for a warm, projecting sound and refined control. It is designed for serious flutists who need dependable intonation, a flexible tonal palette, and a consistent mechanism under demanding rehearsal and performance schedules. The 1307 is known for its centered response and tonal clarity while retaining the nuanced warmth many players associate with higher-silver-content tubing. With an offset G and B footjoint, it balances ergonomic comfort with quick low-register articulation.
In performance, the Britannia silver construction supports a clear core with added tonal warmth, helping the sound carry in orchestral and chamber settings without feeling forced. The medium-heavy wall build contributes to stability of pitch and a more anchored response, especially when shaping dynamics and color across registers. Altus’s precision scale is a practical advantage for ensemble work where consistent intonation matters, and the hand-finished mechanism provides an even, confident key feel for fast technical passages. The offset G reduces left-hand strain for many players, making long services and extended practice sessions more comfortable. This flute is an excellent fit for orchestral and chamber musicians, soloists, studio players, and advancing conservatory students seeking a handmade instrument with professional reliability.
