What’s on My Bench? Early 70s Bach Model 37 Trumpet

Here you see a very nice Bach 37 from around 1970 or 1971. It was quite dirty and everything was stuck except the pistons, but it has cleaned up quite nicely! Aside from some missing lacquer and a few scars from dent removal, there’s nothing wrong with it at all.

What’s on My Bench? 1947 Olds Recording Trumpet

What a beautiful day to share a beautiful Olds Recording with you all! This one is really in wonderful shape, and is nice and straight with just a couple of tiny dents to remove.   Oddly enough, it was missing a valve guide, but I have remedied that situation! Its biggest problem aside from the missing guide was just dirt, and now it’s nice and clean and ready to go. If you’ve been looking for one of these, this just might be the one for you! Look for it in our listings soon. Wishing you amazing gigs! #AmandasBench

What’s on My Bench? Bach Mt. Vernon Alto Trombone

Here’s a cool little horn I finished up today - a Bach Mt. Vernon Model 6 alto trombone! This alto trombone was a conversion done on a regular Model 6, and the tech did quite a nice job on it. Note the unusual tuning mechanism! This horn plays well, and is quite attractive, having retained most of its original gold plate. The boss almost kept this one for his own collection, but decided to sell instead. It even comes with its original Mt. Vernon case! Look for this one in our listings soon - it’s clean and completely ready for...

What's on My Bench? 1921 Conn 20A Flugelhorn

Today’s feature is a real gem - a gold plated, presentation engraved Conn 20A! I actually finished up this little guy last week, but had to make sure I posted about it! It took me a bit to figure out what it was because I had never seen one in person, and its tiny size fooled me at first. As you can see in the photo, it’s about the same size as a cornet! The biggest differences are the tunable mouthpipe and larger bell throat. It takes a cornet shank mouthpiece, and though the included mouthpiece is long shank, it...

What's on My Bench? 1970 Schilke B1

Happy Friday, and welcome to “What’s on my bench?”!!! One of the things I love be about my job is getting to work on horns like this one!! This particular trumpet is a Schilke B1, serial puts it at 1970.  Though all Schilkes are great to play, the B1 is one of the most versatile of the Schilke models. You can take this horn into just about any playing situation and sound appropriate, as long as you have the playing skills to do so! This horn is in really fabulous shape for its age - it has obviously been very...
