What’s on My Bench? A Pair of Beautiful Conn 80A Cornets
These Conn 80A cornets are a lot of fun - great players, and can go from a super dark and velvety sound to bright and trumpet-like depending on your choice of mouthpiece.
What’s on My Bench? A 1915 King Master Model Cornet
This horn is a real beauty, and came to us from a recent estate buy. It cleaned up better than expected, and is quite the player, too!
Recently, I had a chance to do an overhaul on a Conn 28M. Conn is such an interesting company to me, particularly in how they designed their saxophones.
The Soprano Trombone/ Slide Trumpet / Mini Trombone
Every now and again, we receive an item in at the shop that just completely stumps me. (HEY! I'm looking at YOU, soprano trombone!)
What’s on My Bench? A Bach Mt. Vernon Model 8 Trombone
Hey, Brass Fans! We’ve had lots and lots of cool horns in the shop lately, but here’s one you won’t see every day, and it’s in really nice shape. Serial number puts this one at 1955.
What’s on My Bench? A Whole Collection of Vintage Trumpets!!!
We recently bought another estate collection of 78 vintage trumpets, so I have been super busy sorting, cleaning, and getting these awesome old guys ready for their new homes! Some of them don’t need much more than a clean and polish.
What’s on My Bench? A Modular Edwards Trumpet
Edwards is a division of the Getzen company that’s known for its high-end trumpets and trombones, and offers quite a large variety of options for their instruments.
What’s on My Bench? A New York Bach Cornet
This little beauty dates somewhere between 1950-1952, and is in really great shape for a horn of this age. It still has about 60% of its original lacquer, which has aged to a nice dark color, and has been taken care of during its time. It has its original case, and is now clean and ready for the next lucky player!
What’s on My Bench? A 1957 Holton Bass Trumpet
Wow, I’ve had some cool stuff lately, and this one was a whole lot of fun! This one has had some work done in the past, but it’s in pretty nice shape overall. It’s mostly raw brass at this point in its life, so I left as much patina as I could.
