What's on My Bench? 1967 Getzen Eterna Severinson Model Trumpet
This is a 1967 Getzen Eterna Severinson Model, a great horn for Jazz and Commercial playing. Refurbished for resale at The Mighty Quinn Brass and Winds.
What’s on My Bench? Holton H279 French Horn
This one is a nice Holton H279 - it’s seen some action in its time, but is still pretty solid and will serve you well. It badly needed a cleaning, and had neon green corrosion on its rotors, but now it smells like clean dishes and is ready to play! I did some minor dent removal on the bell flare as well, and the screw bell works well.
Things We Find in Cases: Buffet Valve Oil!
I bet you never knew Buffet sold valve oil, did you?? Well, it’s because they actually also made trumpets for a short time! I actually have one that I found recently, and before you ask - no, it is NOT for sale! They are rare enough that I thought you all might like to see it, though!
What's on My Bench? King Silver Tone Artist Bore Trumpet
This King Silver Tone has been my favorite of the week - not only is it beautiful to look at, but it’s a really nice player as well. So nice, in fact, that I need to walk away from it before I start to feel like I need it! The larger bore makes it feel very much like a modern instrument, so it’s super comfortable to play.
Things We Find In Cases: A Copy of the Getzen Gazette from 1967
Today’s exciting find comes to you from the original case of a Getzen Severinson model trumpet that just came in. Copies of the Getzen Gazette always used to come with new horns - not sure if they still do or not, but I remember getting a copy with a Getzen Capri flugel I purchased in 1984! My copy featured the Chicago horns with their Getzen brass.
What's on My Bench? King 2341 BBb Tuba
Today we got a new shipment in, and I got to have some fun with everyone’s favorite sport - Tuba Rasslin’! Don’t worry - I won this round!
I promised an update about our visit to the NAMM show, and here it is! It’s always exciting to see all the brand new gear at the show - everything from instruments and accessories to apps and software. If you ever thought you might need it, you’ll find it there!
